Stain Type: Furniture Stains
TOOLS REQUIRED: Clear plastic sheet and Carpet Shark. CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Stain Magic, Rust Away and Pro Solve Gel.
Procedure:
Furniture stains are normally caused by one of the following:
- Rust from metal leg supports.
- Tannin color leaching from wood.
- Dye from the furniture finish.
Tip: You will be able to remove stains caused by rust and tannin but you will not always be successful in removing stains caused by dye in the finish on the furniture.
Caution: When testing for rust test on a small area only as rust remover may set tannin and dye stains.
Furniture Stains:
Rust:
- If stain is determined to be rust, apply Rust Away.
- Agitate gently until stain disappears.
- Hot water extract.
Tannin Stain:
- If stain is determined to be from wood, apply Stain Magic to stained fibers.
- Lightly cover with clear plastic sheet such as sandwich wrap and allow 12 hours dwell time.
- Severe stains may require more than one treatment, if stain is not completely removed, mix fresh solution of Stain Magic and repeat process.
Dye from furniture finish:
- Clean spot with Pro Solve Gel to remove oil base contamination.
- Thoroughly extraction rinse and blot dry.
- Apply Stain Magic, cover with DCI Light and allow 8 hours dwell time.
