Wall to Wall Wool
If you clean high end residential or some upscale hotels you will find yourself cleaning and restoring wall to wall wool carpets.

When you do encounter pet odors on wall to wall wool light contamination can be treated topically with Molecular Modifier or Odor Zyme just like synthetic fibers, however for Heavy to Severe contamination they will need Molecular Modifier and Odor Barrier.

You will start by pulling back the carpet and removing the contaminated pad.

Odor Barrier should be run through a paint filter as it is poured into your pump up sprayer. The product may develop clumps during storage and transportation.  This is a normal occurrence for the product.

As we've stated before, once the Odor Barrier dries it is no longer water soluble. If you spill the Odor Barrier and it is allowed to dry, a high pH substance like household ammonia is required to remove it.

Once the carpet has been pulled back and the pad removed the sub-floor needs to be sealed (if contaminated). Odor Barrier will cover up to 400 square feet per gallon.  The formulation was changed several years ago from a solvent based product to a water cleanup product.  Some of you may remember using Odor Barrier on the carpet backing.   Once the Odor Barrier is dry to the touch (usually about 20 minutes or so) the pad can be replaced and Molecular Modifier applied to the carpet backing.

After you reinstall the carpet the face fibers can then be treated with Molecular Modifier.

If at all possible you will want to allow the Molecular Modifier to dwell for 24 hours.  If this is not possible simply let it dwell as much as you can (at least an hour) then clean the area with a wool-safe cleaner such as Natural Fiber Cleaner.  When cleaning the carpet do not be as aggressive in cleaning the treated areas so as to leave a residual amount of Molecular Modifier in the backing of the carpet to continue working as the carpet dries.
